We’re excited to announce that our Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) project has secured two years of funding from the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme, ensuring that Surrey residents will continue to benefit from free, trusted, and practical home energy advice until April 2027. This is an amazing win that gives us the stability to grow. Our intention is to continue this vital work well beyond 2027, reaching even more households across Surrey.

This funding was awarded in May to a community consortium led by Zero Carbon Guildford (ZCG), working with partners Circular Dorking, Energy Action Redhill & Reigate, and the Surrey Climate Commission. Together, we’ll be expanding the reach of HEAT and its sister service, HEAT Plus, across Surrey.

What is HEAT?

HEAT provides free in-person home energy visits carried out by trained Energy Champions. During a visit, Champions use thermal imaging cameras to highlight heat loss, then provide tailored advice on improving comfort, cutting bills, and accessing funding.

Residents receive:

  • A personalised report with recommendations

  • Advice on grants, subsidies, and retrofit measures

  • Free remedial measures to reduce heat loss, such as draught proofing and radiator foil

  • Access to a discounted/free loft insulation scheme

Building on Proven Success

HEAT builds on years of experience, starting with the Leaky Homes project in 2022 and evolving through the Surrey County Council's LEAD project in 2023.

Between 2023–2025, HEAT delivered:

  • 2,367 home energy visits

  • A 4.9 star average rating from residents

  • 120 Energy Champions trained

  • 78% of households more likely to install major retrofit measures

  • An incredible 89% of homes enquiring about energy-saving installations

Icons and statistics highlight HEAT surveys for Surrey residents, trained Energy Champions, high customer satisfaction, and energy inquiries.

Why This Matters

Energy costs remain a huge concern for households, with the new price cap increase coming into effect this October. Poorly insulated homes mean even higher bills and more carbon emissions. HEAT addresses both challenges: helping residents save money, live more comfortably, and contribute to a healthier climate.
