Our Story

The garden was named after Rosamund Arvidsson, who purchased our one acre of chalk downland and 18 acres more to protect it from development. The area had historically been used to grow crops and also used as horse grazing paddocks.

In 2019 Rosamund Community Garden was awarded the Surrey Wildlife Trust Gold merit and won Best Community Garden for our approach to wildlife gardening we also won Guildford in Bloom Best Community Garden in 2023

Our Mission

Rosamund Community Garden in Guildford grows using sustainable methods, fosters community engagement through inclusive volunteer opportunities, and enhances local biodiversity by maintaining wildlife habitats and supporting pollinators.

Our Vision

Rosamund Community Garden aims to create a thriving, sustainable green space that nurtures both people and nature. Its long-term goals include fostering a resilient local food system through organic, sustainable cultivation; strengthening community bonds by providing an inclusive, educational, and social space for all; and enhancing biodiversity by maintaining habitats for wildlife and pollinators. By promoting sustainable practices and environmental stewardship, Rosamund Community Garden aspires to be a model for community-led regeneration and ecological sustainability in Guildford and beyond.

What We Do

Rosamund Community Garden brings people together to learn, grow, and care for nature. Everything we do supports a greener, more connected, and biodiverse Guildford.

Sustainable Growing

We grow organic produce using low-impact, sustainable methods that improve soil health, boost biodiversity, and reduce carbon emissions.

Wildlife & Pollinator Conservation

We protect bees, butterflies and other pollinators by maintaining wildflower areas, hedgerows and insect-friendly habitats across the garden, and we’re also rich in wildlife, from kestrels, linnets and skylarks to badgers, deer, toads, slow worms and viviparous lizards..

The Hub

Built by volunteers using traditional cobbing and wattle-and-daub techniques, The Hub is a welcoming space the community can use for classes, events, and gatherings.

Learning, Community & Wellbeing

Workshops & Events

From willow weaving to wreath making, we run year-round workshops and regular “Big Job Sunday” sessions that bring people together to learn new skills.

Volunteering & Wellbeing

Our open volunteer days offer a friendly, inclusive space to get active, meet new people, and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time outdoors.

Sustainability Advocacy

We work with partners such as the Guildford Environmental Forum and Surrey Wildlife Trust to promote eco-friendly, climate-conscious practices in the community.
