We’ve trained over 100 Energy Champions across Surrey to deliver FREE in-person home energy visits through our HEAT team.

We’re an independent, fully funded service offering FREE impartial home energy advice from our trained Energy Champions - including thermal imaging, smart packs, and tailored support to help you save energy and money.

Please be aware: Some residents have reported receiving unsolicited calls offering home energy surveys or insulation. We never cold call. Our team will only contact you if you’ve reached out to us first.

Our trained team will discuss your energy concerns, carry out a thermal imaging survey, and send you a personalised report with energy-saving tips, available grants, and referrals for extra support - including up to 5 hours of funding help through our HEAT+ partner service.

HEAT is fully grant funded and free for eligible Surrey residents. If your home’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is D or below (or you don’t have one), you’re likely eligible.

With around 300,000 Surrey homes rated D or lower, HEAT was created - with support from Surrey County Council - to help reduce emissions, improve comfort, and make homes healthier.

Energy Champion Home Visit

One of our trained surveyors will visit your home and carry out an impartial survey.

Zero Carbon Guildford is working in partnership with Circular Dorking, Energy Action Redhill & Reigate, and the Surrey Climate Commission to deliver and expand HEAT and HEAT Plus for communities across Surrey.

You’ll be trained to carry out thermal imaging surveys, explain how households can cut energy use, and connect them with grant support.

No experience needed - full training and checks are fully funded. To become an Energy Champion, you’ll need to:

Free or Discounted Loft Insulation

Up to 25% of your home’s heat can be lost through an uninsulated loft - but we can help. Surrey residents can now get free or heavily discounted loft insulation

How It Works

Complete a short form about your loft size and current insulation.
We’ll confirm your cost (if any), send payment details, and arrange delivery.
You’ll receive instructions to install the insulation yourself.

Please note: We do not provide installation or recommend installers.

You must live in Surrey.
Your loft must have 100mm or less existing insulation.
If you qualify for the Warm Homes Local Grant, we may refer you for free installation.

Insulation Details
We supply 200mm glass mineral wool insulation (5.61m² per roll).

Costs

Council Tax Bands A–D: 6 rolls FREE, extra rolls £10 each
Bands E–F: £10 per roll
Bands G–I: £20 per roll
