We are looking for an organised and dynamic person to join the Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT), supporting local residents to reduce energy bills and improve their environmental impact. The ideal candidate will have good communication and people skills, and a commitment to helping residents with practical solutions for energy reduction. No experience in the energy sector is necessary.

The HEAT service, a project coordinated by Zero Carbon Guildford, delivers independent in-person energy advice to Surrey residents, through a network of trained Energy Champions. The Champions conduct in-person surveys at residents’ homes, providing bespoke high-level advice and signposting residents to grants and support that help reduce energy bills, make their homes modern, comfortable and healthy, and reduce carbon emissions across Surrey.

The project is funded through the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme until April 2027.

Job description

The HEAT Coordinator is a new role responsible for the delivery of key project activities, including organising home energy visits, coordinating the HEAT events programme in Guildford, and distributing remedial energy efficiency measures to residents. This role will report to the Home Energy Advice Team Manager.

  • Coordination of home energy visits including checking eligibility, communications with householders, booking visits, coordinating with Energy Champions.

  • Provide support and feedback to Energy Champions.

  • Organise and coordinate delivery of HEAT events programme, along with the rest of the HEAT team and Zero volunteers. Planning, booking speakers, identifying external events to attend, supporting Zero's Communications and Marketing Manager to market events.

  • Support HEAT Manager with ordering and distribution of remedial measures and loft insulation.

  • Respond to enquiries by email and phone.

  • Any additional work to support the project as required and agreed with the HEAT Manager.

Person specification

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Experience in project coordination and/or reporting

  • Good people skills and experience of customer service (particularly by email and phone).

  • Proficiency in using and learning new IT systems, especially spreadsheets and databases.

  • Good spoken and written English.

  • Familiarity with the geography of Surrey would be useful, but not essential.

No experience in the energy sector is necessary. We will provide training, and technical enquiries can be signposted to our qualified Retrofit Assessors.
