Great Big Green Week is back! This year there's something for everyone, whether you want to cut your energy use, protect Surrey's countryside and rivers, or clean up your neighbourhood!
Take the opportunity to engage with your local community to tackle climate change in a week of events, talks and workshops, with partners including The Friary, Fully Charged e-bike shop and the University of Surrey.
The Great Big Green Week is a Climate Coalition initiative billed as ‘the largest event for climate & nature ever seen in the UK’. ZERO will be theming the week around our key objectives: Active travel on car Free Day, Environment, Energy, Climate Communication, Change the System and Waste & Circular Economy.
Guildford community groups, organisations, and businesses will be showcasing the work being done locally on food security, environmental protection, and mitigation & adaptation to the climate and ecological crisis. We all have a role to play in protecting the future of our borough and our planet - whether that be through residents coming together in community growing projects, businesses reducing their waste, or findin g collaborative ways to make Guildford a leader in finding local solutions to global challenges.
Around 20 events will take place across Guildford's Great Big Green Week, hosted by different organisations, in multiple locations across our beautiful borough. Some of these events will be all-day carnival style events, some will be workshops and interactive demonstrations, some will be talks and seminars, and some will actively encourage people to get out into nature or highlight the alternatives to our current ways of life.
