Energy Champion Training

Zero Carbon Guildford and Energy Action Reigate & Redhill are teaming up to launch the Leaky Homes Project in Surrey. We will be conducting energy audits across a large part of Surrey. You can learn more about the Leaky Homes Project here.

We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, and personable Surrey residents to conduct energy assessments, which can help householders to cut their energy bills and lower energy use.

We are offering you the opportunity to undertake free training to become an Energy Champion for the project.

The training will be provided by Energise South. We will show you how to use a thermal imaging camera, and run you through the assessment and write-up process, ensuring you are confident to begin delivering surveys immediately.

IMPORTANT: This is a training session for people committed to driving energy-efficiency measures across Surrey. Space is limited to 30 places, so we ask that you only register your interest if you are:

     a) Committed to attending the training on Jan 28th

     b) Can commit to undertaking surveys over the coming weeks to March 31st

SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY

10.30: Arrival

10.50: Intros - ZCG & EARR

11:00: Session 1

     - Understanding energy meters, payment methods, tariff switching

     - Identifying support for those who need it

13:00: Session 2

     - Understanding heat loss from the home

     - Energy efficiency in the home

     - Introduction to retrofit and funding methods

16:00: Session 3

     - Thermal imaging camera training

17:00: End

REGISTRATION: Please note that registering for this event does not automatocially guarnatee you a space on the training course. We will be delivering surveys across a large part of Surrey, and therefore need to balance where attendees are located geographically. Once you have registered we will send you an application form to register your interest in becoming a Leaky Homes Energy Champion. Once we receive your completed application we will respond with 2-3 days to notify you if we've secured your space on the training course. Thanks for your understanding. 

THE VENUE Hot & cold drinks, along with snacks, are available from the ZERO cafe. No meals are available, but you are very welcome to bring your own lunch, or make use of the many food outlets surrounding us during the lunch break.

We are located at 14-16 Friary Street, GU1 4EH, right next to TK Maxx. Please take public transport or car share to keep this event’s emissions impact to a minimum. ZERO is a 3 minute walk from Guildford train station. If you must drive, Bedford multistory carpark is a 2 minute walk from ZERO.
