About the Event

Join us on a gentle walk to discover the varied habitats of this lesser-known piece of Guildford’s countryside, nestled at the foot of St Martha’s Hill. We will explore what makes it so special and learn how Guildford Borough Council are working to restore this former farmland to a haven for wildlife.

Plans are in motion to further connect this historic landscape with the many significant surrounding nature reserves and help ensure this key piece of the wider countryside achieves its full potential for nature. Guildford Borough Council Countryside Warden John Andrews will lead us on a tour to explore what’s already special about the site and what’s planned for the future.

What can I expect? : A steady walk through the scenic countryside of Tyting Farm, with regular stops to look at some of its key features, such as:

Newly laid hedges and their importance for wildlife.

 The varied geology of the site and its impact on the species present.

 Artificial habitats created to support bats and other species.

We will be walking through grassy fields and there are some moderately steep slopes, so please wear appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing.

Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome.

Meet at St Martha’s Hill Car Park, Halfpenny Lane, Guildford GU4 8PZ
