SBN: Nature & Communities + Tour Of Living Planet Centre

Join the Sustainable Business Network's next event and find out how and why your business premises can benefit nature and your local community. 

When it launched, Living Planet was the UK’s most sustainable building. This makes it the perfect setting to get together and chat about how your premises can benefit nature and your local community. 

This event is all about ACTION! Not only do we have a great line up of speakers, but we'll be discussing how your premises, or your corporate volunteers, can contribute to a strategic plan of creating biodiversity opportunity areas across Surrey. Surrey Wildlife Trust have scientifically mapped these areas, and we want to kick off the delivery of a plan at this event, using the summer to develop the strategy ready for autumn planting season. And we would love to ensure SBN members are leading from the front in this project. 

There are so many co-benefits to implementing measures like living walls, rain gardens, and other green-blue infrastructure, for improving air quality, to rainwater absorption, to improving the wellbeing of your employees that it's a no-brainer for any business, large or small, to get involved. 

We’ll be joined by Surrey’s leading experts on the themes of urban greening and biodiversity, including:

• Sarah Jane Chimbwandira - Chair of Surrey Wildlife Trust 
• Prof Prashant Kumar - Co-Director of Institute for Sustainability, Director of Reclaim Network
• Dr Ellie Ratcliffe - Dr of Environmental Psychology and lead on Greening Southway

And to wrap it up, Lauren Wiseman, Environmental Director of WWF UK will give us a tour of the Living Planet Centre and show us first hand some of the interventions we can make on our premises to contribute to a Surrey-wide strategy on urban greening. Space on the tour is limited, and to book a space you must book the event + tour ticket.
