About the Event
Come along and create a collaborative Queer Utopia! In this workshop, multidiscplinary nonbinary artist Eli will encourage you to consider what represents a ‘safe space’ to you - real or imagined - and then create your own personalised model of it! Using sustainable, recycled materials you’ll make and decorate your own handmade building (as fantastical or true-to-life as you like!).
Inspired by queer theory, the intention is to reflect on our meaningful roles within the world as LGBTQIA+ people, and construct together a vision of what a more euphoric, more inclusive world might look like for us. Everyone will be able to combine their little buildings to form a model village which illustrates an ideal queer society, and opens conversation on our diverse contributions to our real-life communities. All materials provide.
