On Friday April 22 at 3pm, we'll be learning how to test the river for temperature, conductivity, pH, alkalinity, hardness, phosphates, and nitrates with ZERO's resident water quality specialist Kat Kavanagh, Executive Director at Water Rangers. 

We'll teach you how to use easy-to-use kits, built for citizen scientists, that give us a snapshot of the health of our waterways - and the best part is you get your results right away! Every body of water has its own unique chemistry, which is why we need your help in collecting long term baseline data. You'll be trained up in how to test and will be invited to dive in to become part of us establishing a regular water monitoring program, where we test once per month.

Whether you're interested in getting outside, learning something new, or volunteering for the environment, everyone is welcome: no experience or wellies are required! We'll be testing from the shoreline.

Meet at ZERO, and then we'll be walking for 10-15 minutes down to a popular site on the River Wey. As we walk along the river, you'll get to know what to look for when assessing good waterbodies. Participants of all ages are welcome!
