19 Sept 2025, 18:45 – 20:30

Guildford Town Bridge, High St, Guildford GU2 4AJ, UK

About the Event

Join us for a walk and talk led by James Alvarez & Caroline Fillingam of Surrey Bat Group to discover our local bat population in Guildford.

We’ll meet at the bridge for a short introduction to bats, covering what they are, what they do, why they are amazing and how we can help them out.

Then we’ll take a short walk down the river, hoping to see some bats flying around. We’ll have some bat detectors with us which we’ll pass around so everyone will be able to hear the bats doing their echolocation calls.

We’ll stop a couple more times as we walk to talk more about bats. We’ll then complete the loop and bring everyone back to the town bridge roughly an hour and a half later.

The walk is 1 mile loop around the bottom of Guildford. Pavements or towpath the whole way. Please note we can’t guarantee any bats will show up, but we can guarantee you’ll learn a lot about them.

Bring a torch if you would like to, and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Meet: Guildford town bridge, at the bottom of the high street
