Discover the pride and peace of mind that comes from harvesting your very own fresh, home-grown food. Whether you have a sunny windowsill or a suburban garden, our beginner 'Learn to Grow' workshops provide the common-sense skills needed to turn any space into a productive pantry.
These sessions are entirely volunteer-led, created by neighbours for neighbours to ensure that everyone in our community has the tools to be more self-reliant. Sign up today to cultivate your skills, save on your shopping bills, and grow a healthier future for Guildford.
Part of a series of four workshops aimed at beginners on how to grow your own vegetables, fruit & herbs.
Session 1: Introduction & Sowing Seeds – Saturday 14th March 2026 10am-12pm
Learn where to start, what to grow, how to prepare soil and sow seeds confidently.
Take home your own sown seed tray, a potted seed and a practical booklet.
Session 2: Sowing Seeds – Next Steps – Saturday 25th April 2026 10am-12pm
Potting on, watering, feeding, companion planting and a guided garden tour.
Take home a potted seedling and booklet.
Session 3: Caring for Your Crop – Saturday 13th June 2026 10am-12pm
Problem-solving, plant protection, disease prevention and practical growing tips.
Includes booklet to support you at home.
Session 4: Harvesting, Storing, and Taking Skills Forward – Saturday 5th September 2026 10am-12pm
Harvesting, saving seeds, composting, crop rotation and planning for next year.
Includes practical guide booklet.
