About the Event
Throughout history, society has been shaped by the most powerful narrative of a shared vision of the future that we want to see. From Plato's selective storytelling to imagine the Republic, to Martin Luther King Jr's 'Dream', a powerful and positively framed version of the future has been critical to shaping how we live and interact with one another.
We've not yet found that compelling, positive narrative that's powerful enough to bring the masses along in averting potentially catastrophic climate change. It's an ongoing challenge to balance the reality of climate breakdown with the positivity of a narrative that can reshape society.
We'll be joined by Mathias Thaler, author of No Other Planet: Utopian Visions for a Climate Changed World, which 'tracks social dreaming across two domains: political theory and radical transformation', to discuss some of the key challenges in creating the compelling narrative that leads to transformative adaptation in how we live, work, and co-exist within planetary boundaries on a rapidly changing planet.
Sign up and join us online for an evening of insights from Mathias and what his work can teach us about averting the worst of the climate crisis.
