About the Event

This event is now sold out. Sorry if you missed out on tickets, but good news, we'll be recording it and you'll find the video on our YouTube channel shortly after the event: https://www.youtube.com/@zerocarbonguildford

As well as individual action, the climate and biodiversity crises require action at all political levels so it is important that voters use their votes to elect people who will make the most impact. Guildford Borough Council has published a plan to become carbon neutral by 2030, this plan will need to be funded and primarily delivered by the next council administration.

Zero Carbon Guildford and Guildford Environmental Forum have invited a representative from each party contesting the borough council elections to answer questions from the public on their policies for:.

  • Climate change
  • Air quality and pollution
  • Nature recovery and biodiversity crisis
  • The environment and our health and wellbeing
  • Protected areas - Surrey Hills, greenbelt and designated sites
  • Harnessing community action

We will be focussing on the environmental impacts of areas that the borough council has jurisdiction over such as waste, planning, housing,  air quality and community wellbeing.

The event will be chaired by Kathy Atkinson, chair of the board of the Surrey Hills AONB Board and will consist of pre-submitted and audience questions. Questions can be submitted in advance by emailing mark@zerocarbonguildford.org.
